DAY 1 Guiyang
Transfer via: flight/train - your arrangement
Activities for today: airport/train station transfer
Upon arrival in Guiyang, your guide and driver will pick you up at the airport/train station and transfer to your centrally located hotel. Balance of the day is at leisure or for your independent exploration of the city.

DAY 2 Guiyang/Anshun/Guiyang
Activities for today: Huangguoshu Waterfall, Tianlongtunbao Ancient Village
After breakfast, journey out on a 1.5-hour drive to Huangguoshu Waterfall, the largest waterfall in Asia, 101 meters wide, cascading 77 meters down to the Rhinoceros Pool. Thunderous roar can be heard miles away as you approach it amidst peaceful surroundings of trees, water and greenery everywhere. Follow your guide to enjoy the fall at its best from different vantage points. Don’t forget visiting the Water Curtain Cave hiding behind the cascades, allowing for an up-close view of the plunging water.
Back aboard your coach and relax on the journey to Tianlongtunbao Ancient Village, a military settlement built during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). On a walking tour, you will find yourself stepping into a “stone city”, full of historically old stone houses, watchtowers, flagstone lanes, etc. Despite the changing of dynasties, people here still retain Ming-era lifestyle, clothing and traditions.
Later you will enjoy the “Ground Opera”, a primitive local drama with stories mostly about warfare and battles. Watch locals dressing up and wearing exquisitely-crafted wooden masks, learn about the history and culture of the village.
After that, your guide will escort you back to your hotel in Guiyang.

DAY 3 Guiyang/Kaili
Activities for today: Qingman Miao Village, Shiqiao Miao Village
Today begin your exploration of Miao people’s minority culture with a drive to Qingman Miao Village in Kaili (approx. 2.5hs). Local Miao girls in gorgeous traditional costumes will toast you with home-made rice wine at the entrance to the village. This is a traditional Welcome Ceremony of Miao people and you will be intoxicated by their hospitality and friendliness.
Head inside the village with your guide to admire typical Miao ethnic architecture – wooden stilt houses and learn interesting facts about their traditional life. You could also watch firsthand the process of Miao women weaving, embroidering and sewing traditional Miao clothes in the ancient manner of the past.
Next, you will continue to Shiqiao Miao Village famous for its pretty terrace landscape, inviting customs of Miao people and the 1500-year-old papermaking technique. Witness villagers using tree barks to make white and colored papers, you will be totally amazed by the ancient artistic practice rarely seen elsewhere.
At the end of the day, you will be transferred to your hotel in Kaili.

DAY 4 Kaili
Activities for today: Jidao Miao Village, Langde Miao Village, Paika Miao Village, Xinqiao Miao Village
This morning you will travel to Jidao Miao Village with its serene rural landscape perfect for a peaceful retreat from urban life. Visit a local family where you can come into close contact with Miao people and their laidback ethnic life. Visit the Hundred-year-old Barn dating back to Qing dynasty (1636-1912) and still playing an essential role in locals’ life.
Return to your vehicle for a short drive through rugged countryside to Langde Miao Village, where you can soak up idyllic scenery of lush paddy fields decorated with stilted wooden buildings. Wander at leisure in the cobblestone streets and get a feel for the unhurried pace of life, friendly people, century-old architectures, and unique ethnic custom.
Continue your journey south to Paika Miao Village to view how old craftsman makes Lusheng, a characteristic musical instrument of Miao and Dong people. Then, experience a half-an-hour hiking among pastoral scenery to Shuidian Village. Along the way, be caught by ancient mill wheels, rows upon rows of rice terraces and typical scenes of rural life, such as famers working in the fields and women doing chores by the riverside.
Finally arrive in Datang Xinqiao short skirt Miao Village, where local females are traditionally dressed in “miniskirts”. You will get to see their distinguished ethnic costume and also unique architecture - Barn on the Water, amazing built 3.5-4 meters high above a pond for protection against fire, mouse and insects.
